This publication intends to provide an insights into drivers of economic, political, and social chage that will shape Asia and the Asia's role in global affairs in 2030. This will include economic reform and growth, political and cultural change due to rapid urbanisation and income growth, and the pressure on resources to provide adequate sustainable human safety particulary in the megacities of Asia in 2030.
The term 'Asian century' is used in the name of the Institute to capture the essence of its mission: to anticipate changes in international order resulting from the increased wealth and power of the countries of Asia and from the greater determination of its people to exercise political and moral authority.
The first edition will be published in May 2009.
